MAGEE FINE ARTS/VIP NIGHT!!! VIP night is a special night at Magee that allows students to invite their very important people and show them around the school to experience everything they’ve been working on. As part of this event, Ms. Hanson worked with the PTO to facilitate an all-school art show as a fun, interesting way to showcase their talents. “I came up with the concept of To Magee and Beyond, which is an outer space themed show featuring 2D, 3D, and collaborative artwork in a gallery setting throughout the building,” said Hanson. “I thought students would really get into it and that I could also connect a lot of different art mediums to our learning goals. One of the most exciting parts was seeing how engaged students were in the planning and execution of their projects.”

KMHS MEETS NEXTREX RECYCLE CHALLENGE!!! Gray Sikorski was motivated by the NexTrex challenge to turn unwanted plastic bags, wraps, shipping materials, and water bottles into something of value for our school! KMECO took on the goal of collecting 1,000 pounds of plastic in bins throughout the high school. Their intent was to meet this challenge by the end of this school year, but that goal has been met well ahead of schedule. NexTrex will be providing our school with a bench, made from the recycled materials, in honor of KMECO's mission to keep plastic waste out of landfills and create something functional in the process.

KMMS ORCHESTRA AT STATE CAPITOL!!! As part of, Celebrating Music in Our Schools Month, Kettle Moraine 7th Grade Middle School Orchestra recently performed at the Wisconsin State Capitol Rotunda in Madison, WI. The invitation-only performance, under the direction of KM Orchestra Teacher Ms. Shelly Weber, took place as part of the Capitol Concerts series, an annual event sponsored by the Wisconsin Music Educators Association (WMEA) in celebration of Music in Our Schools Month throughout March. Only 7 music ensembles across the State of Wisconsin were invited to participate in this prestigious event. “Music education offers far more than just the opportunity to play an instrument or sing in a choir,” said Kettle Moraine Middle School Orchestra Teacher, Shelly Weber. “It helps students develop creativity, confidence, resilience, and collaboration skills that are essential in their academic and personal success. This performance is a celebration of the power of music to develop our students’ creativity, artistry, teamwork, and work ethic. The experience of performing in the Capitol Rotunda, an iconic and unique backdrop for the students’ impressive performance, is likely a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for our students.” As Music in Our Schools Month continues, the Kettle Moraine School District proudly joins schools and communities across Wisconsin in celebrating the vital role of music and arts education. The district remains committed to providing rich, comprehensive arts programs that inspire creativity, foster teamwork, and develop critical thinking skills that benefit students both inside and outside the classroom.
